Thursday Shalom: The River

Pictures from Wednesday (Thanks, Liz!)

On Thursday the groups go on a scavenger hunt through the town. Summer is saved for Friday, so today, we will let the river inspire us!

Thursday Morning Shalom: The River

Intention for the Day:

“a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,”

“čas plakat a čas se smát, čas rmoutit se a čas tancovat,”

Ecclesiastes 3:4 (Kazatel 3:4)

Quote: “Our lives are better left to chance, I could have missed the pain, but I’d have had to miss the dance.” –Garth Brooks, “The Dance”

Moment of Stillness: Take 5 breaths at your own pace.

Triple Breath: Take 3 quiet breaths in, hold for 3 counts, and softly exhale. Doing this exercise too quickly may cause you to pass out, so remember do this exercise calmly.

The River, by Garth Brooks

You know a dream is like a river

Ever changin' as it flows

And a dreamer's just a vessel

That must follow where it goes

Trying to learn from what's behind you

And never knowing what's in store

Makes each day a constant battle

Just to stay between the shores

And I will sail my vessel

'Til the river runs dry

Like a bird upon the wind

These waters are my sky

I'll never reach my destination

If I never try

So, I will sail my vessel

'Til the river runs dry

Too many times we stand aside

And let the waters slip away

Till what we put off till tomorrow

Has now become today

So don't you sit upon the shoreline

And say you're satisfied

Choose to chance the rapids

And dare to dance the tide

Yes, I will sail my vessel

'Til the river runs dry

Like a bird upon the wind

These waters are my sky

I'll never reach my destination

If I never try

So, I will sail my vessel

'Til the river runs dry

Challenge and Blessing

Find some time today to listen to the stories of a neighbor. If they cry, cry with them. If they dance, dance with them. If they laugh, laugh with them.
